Dr. Deuter is a board certified psychiatrist in San Antonio, Texas and owner/Medical Director of Sigma Mental Health Urgent Care. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas and attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She completed psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Deuter is the Program Director for the psychiatry residency at the Texas Institute for Graduate Medical Education and Research, which is affiliated with the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. She is the President of the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians and a current member of the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians Ethics Council, and she is the Director of the South Texas Psychiatric Physicians Research Network.
Dr. Deuter has a special interest in urgent psychiatric care and early intervention, new onset psychiatric illness, differentiating serious illness from normal brain development, and the unique mental health needs of emerging adults. She is the author of STUCK in the Sick Role: How Illness Becomes an Identity and A Vision for Change: How to Help Someone with Addiction or Mental Illness.
Dr. Deuter is married and has 3 adult children. She is a breast cancer survivor.
